Windows 11 Introduces Unwanted Additional Copilot Button

Microsoft’s continued push for their AI assistant, Copilot, within Windows 11 shows no sign of slowing down. The latest addition is a new Copilot button appearing in the bottom-right corner of the screen, adjacent to the notification icon. This button is essentially redundant, as a Copilot button already exists in the taskbar. Furthermore, Copilot can be accessed via a keyboard shortcut (Windows + C).

Why Microsoft feels the need to add yet another button remains unclear. There doesn’t appear to be any compelling reason. It’s possible the company is simply trying to increase Copilot’s visibility, or perhaps they’re attempting to make it more easily accessible for new users. However, for most users, this new button will likely be nothing more than another annoyance. It’s worth noting that Microsoft allows you to remove the Copilot button from the taskbar, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to remove the new button from the bottom-right corner of the screen.

This decision has sparked considerable debate online, with many users expressing frustration over Microsoft’s continued addition of unnecessary features to Windows 11. Some argue that Microsoft should instead focus on fixing bugs and improving performance rather than adding more unwanted features. It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will reconsider its decision to add this new button. Until then, users will have to endure yet another addition they didn’t ask for.
