Martin Shkreli Can Be Sued Over Wu-Tang Clan Album Copies, Judge Rules

News reports indicate that a judge has ruled that Martin Shkreli, formerly known as “Pharma Bro,” can be sued over unauthorized copies of a Wu-Tang Clan album that he once owned. The lawsuit, brought by HoldCo Asset Management, alleges that Shkreli made several copies of the renowned album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin,” constituting copyright infringement. The suit further claims that these unauthorized copies diminished the value of the original album. Shkreli had originally purchased the album in 2015 for a significant sum. After his conviction on securities fraud charges, the government was compelled to sell the album to settle his debts. HoldCo Asset Management contends that Shkreli’s actions caused significant financial harm. The court’s decision allows the case to proceed, marking a notable development in the ongoing legal matter.
