Martin Shkreli Faces Lawsuit for Allegedly Copying Wu-Tang Clan’s Exclusive Album

Martin Shkreli, once dubbed “the most hated man in America,” is facing a new legal battle. This time, the issue isn’t about pharmaceutical price gouging or securities fraud, but copyright infringement. Picture Beans, a company managing the intellectual property rights for Wu-Tang Clan, has accused Shkreli of copyright infringement by copying, recording, and distributing the one-of-a-kind album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.” The album was originally sold to Shkreli at auction for $2 million. However, Picture Beans claims that Shkreli violated the terms of the sale by making copies and sharing the album with others, thus infringing on their copyright. The company is seeking damages as well as an injunction to prevent Shkreli from further copyright violations regarding the album. The case highlights the complexities surrounding copyright ownership of unique artistic works and how sales terms can be interpreted differently.
