Fresh ModStealer Malware Attacks Cryptocurrency Wallets Across Platforms

A novel malicious software, dubbed ModStealer, has surfaced, targeting cryptocurrency wallets on Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. This malware is designed to pilfer user credentials and wallet information, jeopardizing their digital assets. ModStealer employs diverse methods to infiltrate systems, including socially engineered malware downloads, exploitation of software vulnerabilities, and distribution via pirated software. Once installed, the program starts harvesting sensitive data, such as passwords, wallet keys, and transaction details. This information is then transmitted to a server controlled by the attackers. To defend against ModStealer, it’s advisable to exercise caution with downloaded links and files, regularly update software, employ reliable antivirus software, and store cryptocurrencies in cold hardware wallets. It’s also crucial to verify wallet addresses before sending cryptocurrencies and avoid using identical passwords for multiple accounts.
